\nEach year, the French police open more than 800 murder investigations.\u00a0 Close to 20% of them remain unsolved.\u00a0 This is one of them.\u00a0 Captain Yohan Vib\u00e8s, the investigator in charge of the case in\u00a0Dominik Moll\u2018s finely-tuned, piercing detective story, tells us that, \u201cSooner or later, every investigator comes across a crime that haunts him.\u201d It devours him from within.\u00a0 For Yohan, it\u2019s the murder of a young woman named Clara Royer, which transpired on the night of the 12th, outside of Grenoble, against the looming backdrop of the French Alps.\u00a0 Actors Bastien Bouillon and Bouli Lanners lead a strong cast, and a homicide team that leaves no stone unturned.\u00a0 More profoundly, the astute film ponders gender issues in this \u201cman\u2019s world\u201d of crime and punishment, where men commit crimes and men investigate crimes \u2014 often crimes committed against women\u2026 whose lives are often dissected and vilified, nonetheless.\u00a0 In his most introspective moments, the taciturn Yohan even begins to see his suspects in himself.\u00a0 As promised, the case presents more questions than answers.\u00a0 And Yohan just keeps going in circles.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\nWATCH NOW<\/a><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
