That led to appearances in some 50 television shows, a string of early-seventies Disney films, and Martin Scorsese’s Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (1974). However, it was her bravado performance as a 12-year-old prostitute in Scorsese’s Taxi Driver (1976) that catapulted her to international stardom and earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She has now appeared in 83 films and TV series, and has earned two Academy Awards for Best Actress, for her stunning work in Jonathan Kaplan’s The Accused (1988) and Jonathan Demme’s The Silence of the Lambs (1991). A graduate of the Lvcée Français de Los Angeles, Foster has been fluent in French since childhood, which has enabled her to dub herself in French releases of most of her English-language films and, of course, to be cast in the starring role in Rebecca Zlotowski’s A Private Life.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][mk_image src=”https://theamericanfrenchfilmfestival.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/tafff2025_selects_day1_134-2-1.jpg” image_size=”full” frame_style=”gray_border” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator color=”custom” css=”” accent_color=”#004EEF”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][mk_padding_divider][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1735428381623{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”] [/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”custom” css=”” accent_color=”#660084″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][mk_padding_divider size=”50″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1762474938309{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”] WRITER/DIRECTOR JODIE FOSTER RECIPIENT OF THE TAFFF ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 2025.
