The romance between Sophie and Xavier, a couple of staid empty-nesters, seems to have run out of steam long ago. When Sophie invites the young couple who lives upstairs to dinner, Xavier is not thrilled. They’re the ones who keep them up at night with their raucous sexual frolics! But much more than leg of lamb turns out to be on the menu, as polite conversation gives way to caustic banter… and eventually leads to a somewhat indecent proposal. Yet under its witty dialogue and scorching zingers, this often-hilarious, rhythmically staged drawing-room comedy of manners evolves into a withering analysis of the frailty of human relationships, as well as what fuels their capacity to endure.<\/p>\n

After writing and directing a slew of shorts on their own, co-writers\/co-directors Olivier Ducray<\/strong> and Wilfried M<\/strong>\u00e9<\/strong>ance<\/strong> first teamed up on the short film Mon p’tit Bernard<\/em> (2020), then went on to collaborate on the feature Jumeaux mais pas trop<\/em> (TAFFF 2022). Ducray then wrote and directed the documentary feature Last Days of a Country Doctor<\/em> (2022) and collaborated on the screenplay for Edouard Pluvieux’s 14 Days to Feel Better<\/em> (2024).
