When Jacques’ daughter puts him in a high-end seaside retirement home, he thinks he’s being put out to pasture. Until he meets Rose, a vibrant, beautiful septuagenarian with whom he immediately falls madly in love… and tirelessly lusts after. Albeit, with subtlety and tenderness, but totally without taboos. However, their love affair wreaks havoc in the home, and deeply shakes the lives of everyone around them — their families, the staff, the management and the other residents. Yet, galvanized by their love and desire, Jacques and Rose are determined to live out their late-in-life passion against all odds, overcoming the small inconveniences and major obstacles in their path.
Creator and showrunner Clémence Azincourt was trained as an actor at the Conservatoire d’art dramatique in Paris, and the École Professionnelle Supérieure d’Art Dramatique in Lille. She has performed in numerous theatrical productions at the Théâtre du Nord, Théâtre National de Strasbourg, Péniche Opéra, Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne, MC2 in Grenoble, Théâtre de Belleville and the Théâtre National de La Colline. Sex (re) Education is her first television credit. Series co-creator and director Alice Vial is also an actor and has appeared in several series and films. She has co-written numerous TV series, including La fille au cœur de cochon (2022) and Drops of God (2023), as well as Anne Fontaine’s feature film The Innocents (2016), which was nominated for a César Award for Best Original Screenplay. She has directed four short films, including The Winkles, which nabbed the César Award for Best Short Film and the 2019 COLCOA Short Film Special Prize. Sex (re) Education is her first TV directing credit.
